This series of hard edge geometric paintings,
done when the I was 18 years old and still a high school student taking summer and night courses, at the
Vancouver School of Art with teachers like Ron Stonier. At this stage of my development, I was also doing life drawing, still life and landscapes.
These works, however, were influenced
by the later European abstract painters such as the Italian artists, Arturo
Bonfanti and Alberto Magnelli, the
English abstractionist,Victor Pasmore, the early work of Victor Vasarely and
also
Jean Arp.
